RPCVHI Community Activities

RPCVHI members participate in many community activities.  Moanalua High School on Oahu has the largest second language program for high school students and RPCVs are invited to share their use of a second language in their volunteer work overseas.  RPCVs participate as judges for students in their speech presentations.  And RPCVs have a language game: matching pictures with words in Pidgin, Thai, Chinese, Tongan, Spanish and French.

RPCVHI members shared their experiences at a Career Fairs on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island and work our Peace Corps recruiter based in Hawaii.

We join with local organizations for beach cleanups during Earth Day events, back to school supply events, and World Ocean Day.  In 2024, we participated with Peace Corps Recruiters at the FESTPAC convention in Honolulu.

RPCVHI members have partnered with local Rotary organizations as part of the Peace Corps/Rotary Partnering for Peace national program.  In 2022, Hilo Rotary members and RPCVs installed a Peace Pole at the Hilo airport. In 2023, RPCVHI members have shared their Peace Corps Experiences at Rotary meetings.
